Seasonal Kinship

Advent by Candlelight:  This is a special time for women to gather for a time of spiritual reflection of the Advent season.  Beautiful decorations and fellowship (and desserts and wine!) provide a delightful atmosphere for women of all ages to enjoy music and devotions by candlelight, in Fellowship Hall.  All are invited to either host a table (hostess duties include reserving and decorating a table with dinnerware, providing wine and preparing a dessert) or be a guest at one of the beautifully decorated tables.  The date is set and sign up available in early November of each year.

Advent Walk:  Every other year, Peace hosts an “Advent Walk” in December leading up to Christmas.  Members are invited to share nativity scenes of various shapes and sizes, as well as the stories that come along with them.  It is a beautiful scene to see Fellowship Hall filled with nativity sets and lit by the soft glow of white lights.

Advent Festival:  On a Wednesday in early Advent, we celebrate the season with an intergenerational festival of crafts and projects to foster faith practices for the season, do a fundraiser for preschool scholarships, eat amazing foods, and worship with the music of the season.

Christmas CarolingOn a Sunday afternoon close to Christmas, Peace members of all ages come together to spread the joy of Christmas through the singing of Christmas carols.  Traveling together by bus, visits are made to nursing homes, home bound members of Peace and those dealing with health issues.  It’s a beautiful way to combine fellowship with serving others and all are welcome to participate!

Lefse:   Each year, a number of expert lefse (a Norwegian flatbread) makers spend a few days in November making the delicious delicacy.  All are welcome–experienced or not!  Our experts are good teachers and they even bring along butter& sugar to sample the mistakes!
