Refuge & Strength Initiative

The leadership at Peace Lutheran Church in partnership with Rev. Erica Becker is currently at work to expand our care for those who are working with grief and loss. While existing programs have been helpful for some time, we are well aware of the heightened need for grief and loss services during and after the pandemic as so many are experiencing losses related to health, relationships, economic struggles, etc. We are also aware of a need to create resources for pastors and church leaders, thus equipping them to care for their congregations.  For more information contact Pastor Karen Locken at karen.locken@explorepeace.org.

FURTHER…

Our church is responding to this increased need for assistance by creating toolkits for pastors to use that include a ready-made liturgy as well as resources and guides. We are also excited to work with specific groups at Peace as we expand our ministry to include more youth, LGBTQ, and BIPOC populations. While starting out small, we hope to eventually reach congregations and leaders all around the country. Pastor Erica Becker is currently in conversation with our synod bishop as well as other pastors in our synod to collaborate and share resources. She is also in touch with pastors from various states who are already excited to have assistance in the areas of grief and loss. Our hope is to create a real and lasting impact for individuals, groups, and congregational leaders as we walk alongside those who are suffering, both during the pandemic and beyond.
