Adventure 910 is the final part of Peace’s confirmation ministry and is for students in grades 9 & 10. If you are new and your child is already confirmed, this learning opportunity is geared to include them. We focus on integrating how our faith informs the way we navigate the world. We spend time on field trips, service events, projects, activities—hiking, etc. and relationship building. We engage speakers on topics of interest and importance for high school students. T
Mentorship conversations with an adult the student chooses is also a part of this experience.
Students in 10th grade that desire to affirm their baptism (confirm their faith) gather for a worship celebration in the spring. Preparation for this event includes a faith project, a conversation with one of the pastors related to faith development and the student’s perspective on readiness to affirm their faith.
Adventure 910 plans for fall of 2020…
Adventure 910 starts on Wednesday, October 7, 2020 for all 9th and 10th grade students. This program will be a parent/student partnership with the pastoral team. Studies have shown over and over again, students learn about faith from their parents and are most likely to follow in faith if parent’s value faith experiences. Thank you for partnering in this process.
Each month this quarter (October through December) we will:
- Meet two times for a lesson on Zoom. Meetings will include a Scripture story and mini sermon, a guest speaker and some time for Q&A at the end. Our guest speakers are people who are doing interesting things in the world that are related to their faith formation. We will be hearing from young adults who have been participants in Peace ministries throughout their growing years.
- Engage in one ‘Finding a Way Forward’ project – doing or making one thing each month that makes the world a better place by sharing God’s love in tangible ways.
- Practice an intentional hour of Sabbath together. It is important to tend relationships and tend faith time. We want you to take at least one hour a month to do something intentional that is a sabbath practice. (A list of possibilities can be found in the document below).
