Waunakee Clouds: Water in it’s Most Poetic Form

A (Slightly Delayed) Gallery Opening with Mark Weller

Waunakee Clouds: Water in Its Most Poetic Form
Newly Scheduled for Friday, January 30, 4–7 p.m.

Brrr! ❄️ Thanks to frigid temperatures, January 23rd’s gallery opening took a brief winter pause—but no fear… we’re rebooked! We look forward to welcoming you to Mark Weller’s Gallery Opening on Friday, January 30, from 4–7 p.m.

About the Exhibit: Waunakee Clouds: Water in it’s Most Poetic Form is an exhibit inspired by more than 30 years of observing Waunakee’s skies, shaped by the community’s unique location along the 43rd parallel where northern and southern air masses meet to create dramatic cloud formations. Each image in the exhibit features local landscapes—parks, lakeshores, farms, and prairies—forming a visual fingerprint of the community.

Using a technique called timestacking, the artist layers hundreds of exposures taken over several minutes to condense constantly shifting skies into a single image, revealing movement and emotion beyond human sight. More than depictions of weather, the works reflect on time itself, inviting viewers to slow down, look up, and reconnect with the quiet drama unfolding overhead each day.

HISTORY of PEACE GALLERY

Peace Gallery was made possible by the generous gift of Thomas Grade, a Peace member who spent his life creating art in many forms. His financial gift to Peace upon his death was a wonderful opportunity for this community of faith to create a Gallery and share gratitude for his legacy. It is our goal to invite art opportunities—both educational events and art shows, spiritual exploration experiences, community meals and celebrations alongside other events that contribute to individual wellness and community collaborations that enrich our life together. Cheers to the possibilities!
