Pop Up Worship is a brief worship adventure in a public outdoor location. It will include a prayer, reading, Holy Communion and benediction….but will mostly be defined by its participants.
Yes…on the ice…at your own discretion. Bring your ice skates and unless it snows between now and then, you can skate anywhere as far as the eye can see. It doesn’t happen very often that you can skate anywhere on the lake…and it is pretty amazing! This requires the ability to climb over the ice ridge where the lake meets the land. I find that there is something about standing in the place where I kayak in the summer…on solid matter in the winter, that is thrilling. We chose this place because most of the parks require stickers. Here you can street park or park in the Old Captain Bill’s space…or around Harbor…for free…and find your way to the lake within a block. Again 10-15 minutes…max…with a story and Holy Communion…and a prayer and a benediction. Again, skate to your heart’s content…or ice fish…or where ice cleats and go for a hike…or fly a kite. The possibilities are endless (almost). Dress warm. Plan for slippery conditions.
Directions: From Peace, turn left onto County Q towards Middleton. Go all the way in. Turn right at the Stoplight just past the KwikTrip onto Century Avenue. Take that to Allen Boulevard and turn left. Go approximately one block and turn left by Harbor Athletics. Keep winding your way towards the lake…and park where you find parking. Pastor Karen will be out there…somewhere…at the edge of the ice.
